The Board of Directors of the Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Blaise MacNeil as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective June 1st, 2015. Blaise MacNeil has over 30 years of administrative experience in the health care field.

For the past 14 years, he has served as President and CEO of the South West Nova District Health Authority, the largest health region in Nova Scotia which includes three acute care hospitals, public health, mental health and addiction services.

MacNeil also served as Chief Executive Officer for the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital from 1994 to 2001 and for the Guysborough Memorial Hospital in Nova Scotia from 1985 to 1994.

“Blaise’s many years of experience and leadership in all facets of health care will be a tremendous asset to TADH in its leadership role as the hub hospital for Timmins and surrounding areas” said Léon Laforest, Hospital board chair.

“Over the coming years, the major challenges and priorities will continue to be financial sustainability and the need to foster greater cooperation and develop a more efficient, effective, patient centred and responsive health care system for all residents of our district. In order to achieve our mission and better serve our population, we will need to strengthen our partnerships with all other community hospitals and health service providers in the District of Cochrane as well as adjoining areas of Temiskaming, Sudbury and Algoma districts”.

“Leading the Timmins and District Hospital and working with its dedicated Health Care Team, its many partners and the Northeast Local Health Integration Network will indeed be an honor and a privilege” said Blaise MacNeil.

“I look forward to being part of this tremendous health care team and to the challenges of continuing the hospital’s important leadership role as a the major hub, referral and teaching hospital in this area of Northeastern Ontario. My wife Colleen and I are very excited at becoming an integral part of the Timmins community”.
