Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updDuring the early morning hours of Sunday, April 12, police received a report of an assault in the area of Mountjoy St. S in Timmins.

Upon further investigation, police learned that the victim had been traveling on foot when he was approached by two males, who were unknown to him. The victim was chased by the two suspects and was ultimately assaulted. The victim’s cell phone was also taken.

The assault ended when a passerby took notice and called police. The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries where he was treated and released.

The two suspects involved were located and arrested by police a short time later. Upon searching one subject, police located and seized a quantity of marihuana.

Deion FARIES, 19, of Timmins was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, resist peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with disposition. Shawn NAKOGEE, 20, of Timmins was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and breach of probation.

Both individuals were held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2015.
