cochranelogoOn the heels of earning an award for innovation, Cochrane is looking at a few initiatives to get people outdoors this summer.

One of the more colourful ones, according to Mayor Peter Politis, is a multi-coloured piano that will appear on the ground in parts of the city.

“People are going to be able to sit down at it as they walk by and play tunes and laugh and socialize,” he said.

Another idea is a book exchange, where books will appear in areas around town to share.

Politis says they’re also looking at block parties, where residents would get permits to bring their BBQ onto the streets and socialize with neighbours.

“All kinds of fun stuff that we’re looking forward to implementing one by one,” he said.
