DSB ONE and parents of the students from Joseph H. Kennedy school in Matheson are at odds.

The school board is moving the 7th and 8th graders to Iroquois Falls but the school’s parent’s board isn’t convinced the move is good.

Chair of the school’s parent’s board, Tamy Peever says students don’t deserve to spend hours on a bus — losing time and home.

“The board feels there are better opportunities to give the students an easier transition to high school.  Some students will be spending some three hours on a bus, especially if they’re from the outlying areas like Ramore.  That leaves less time for homework and time at home.”

“We’re not protesting but more of a rally to show our point of view and hopefully the school board understands the message we want to get across.”

They’re running a rally from 11am to 3pm Friday at the school.
