You can cancel your appointment with your barber and book in with a cop instead. Appointment times on Friday fall between the hours of 11am and 2pm.

When it comes to cancer, chemotherapy can be a confidence killer.

But “Cops for Cancer” is changing that by taking lessons in courage and shaving the hair off of their heads!

The Canadian Cancer Society’s Sandra Coupal explains how this Friday, June 26th 2015 is the “Cops for Cancer” fundraising event in Timmins downtown Urban Park from 11am to 2pm

Coupal says, the initiative began with a police officer who wanted to organize an event showing support for anyone who is/has been teased because they have no hair while undergoing chemotherapy.

What started as a simple head-shaving event quickly became much more than that

YOU DON’T HAVE TO SHAVE YOUR HEAD TO PARTICIPATE!

Guys can get buzzed down to different clippers lengths and girls can have their pony tail cut off wherever they like. If the pony tail is long enough and fits other requirements, it can be donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. (See rules for donating hair Example: must be clean, dry and not swept off the floor, minimum length varies depending on specific hair donation programs requirement, not chemically treated with bleach or permed, should be bundled in a pony tail at both ends or braided)

With this year’s fundraising goal set at $15,000 – Coupal says, every donation counts.

A sponsor, Urban Windows and Doors will be on site Friday with a massive BBQ. Donations for food.
