Canadian Tire stand off: one week later

It’s been a week since a man was spotted on surveillance inside a Canadian Tire, setting off a near 18-hour stand off with police.

Timmins Police’s Kate Cantin says there are lessons to be learned, and officers are being “debriefed” on the situation.

She says all of them get asked what happened, and what can be done to make the operation work even smoother.  Cantin adds that information is not meant for public ears, as it has to do with how they operate.

For now, the investigation continues with tips still coming in from the public.  Police are also using forensics to try and identify the man in the photos and video, in hopes of finding him.

Cantin also says the cost of last Wednesday’s operation is not available yet.
