$200,000 in drugs is safe with police after a Tuesday morning traffic stop in Timmins.

Sgt. Lorne Yee says two men are facing a series of charges for trying to sell cocain, fentanyl, oxycodone pills, meth, and marijuana.

Yee says the increase in drug seizures could be linked to the high amount of break-ins.

“The Police service have had an increase of theft from vehicles and break and enters.  A lot of them are related to drug issues, people stealing to get money so the can buy drugs.”

Yee says the investigation took months and plenty of good police work.  Police nabbed the two men on Highway 101 East around 9:50am.  There they searched the vehicle and found 170 grams of cocaine, 720 Oxycodone tablets, 68 Fentanyl patches, and around $400 in Canadian currency.

A search warrant of two homes later found 230 methamphetamine tablets, 36 grams and marijuana, improperly stored ammunition, brass knuckles, and drug paraphernalia.  Police also seized 1kg of cocaine, around 8.000 meth tablets, and roughly $20,000 in Canadian Currency during the second search warrant.

43 year-old Timmins native, Dean Dubuc and 33 year-old Robert Alexander are facing a number of drug and probation charges.  Dubuc is due in court next Tuesday, while Alexander is due in court Friday.
