provostA long time Timmins businessman is calling it a career.

Gabe Provost is retiring as the owner and operator of Provost Roofing, open since 1982.

He says one of his main highlights was creating the roof of the Shania Twain Centre, and the work he’s done with “a lot of good architects and contractors” in Timmins.

Gabe has worked closely with the Timmins and District Hospital over the years, with plenty of fundraising.

His son Dan is taking over.  Dan has been in the business since 2003, slowly learning the ins and outs and helping Gabe run the business.

He says getting full ownership means a lot.

“I’ve worked hard to get to this point, and he’s worked hard to help me get to this point,” he said.

“Now it’s my turn to do what I can for the next little while, and maybe my kids will do the same for me in the future.”

Before Gabe makes the big move to Florida, he has one final message for the Timmins faithful.
