angusHalfway through the federal election campaign trail, incumbent MP Charlie Angus (NDP) says people want change.

He says based on what he is hearing from residents, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has made the country a “meaner and shabbier place.”

“We’re getting people coming out to volunteer, who haven’t volunteered before, people who are saying ‘give me a sign’ who never took a sign before,” he said, “Something’s definitely shifting politically across the landscape, and we’re feeling it in Timmins-James Bay.”

Angus says people are feeling like they’re falling behind in the issue of pension security.  He adds the crisis in Syria has opened some eyes as well, that it’s showing Harper’s world vision is one of “belligerence.”

He says going forward, it’s about getting to the residents with door knocking and ensuring people are going out to vote for election day.
