SCI_MNR_logo_bronzeWith summer temperatures all but behind us, the fall brings many things and that includes the start of hunting season.Small Game is eligible for the hunt starting Tuesday, September 15th, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

The MNRF’s Heather Pridham says small game includes pheasants, ruffed grouse, sharp tailed grouse, spruce grouse, ptarmigan and grey partridge as well as rabbit and hare.

“Furbearing mammals such as red fox, wolf and coyote are also considered small game. However there are special regulations for wolf and coyote hunting in Ontario.”

Hunters must never shoot, unless they are sure of their target, and it’s illegal to shoot from a vehicle or have a loaded firearm inside the vehicle.
