steveblackTimmins Mayor Steve Black is spending a week and a half in China.

He says nine Mayors from across Ontario will take part in business meetings with Chinese investors and politicians, to discuss what avenues each country can take in terms of investing in one another in key sectors.

The meetings themselves are starting around 7am and ending “sometimes 9:00 at night,”

“We should be quite busy between the different groups we are meeting with,” he said.

Black adds the whole trip is sponsored by the Chinese-Canadian Investment Agency, except for the flights to and from China.

Black says despite the city and the TEDC wanting to pay for the trip, he says he took it upon himself to front the bill out of his own pocket.

The meetings kick off Monday, September 21st and Black won’t be back in Timmins until October 1st.
