Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updDuring the early morning hours of March 5, 2015, the Timmins Police Service and Timmins Fire Department were called to a working fire at 218 Sixth Ave.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters but caused significant damage to the building, which contained several apartments.

Following an investigation by the Timmins Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Section, the fire was deemed to be arson. Police determined that the fire had been set by an individual who was persuaded into the action by the building’s owner, for financial gain.

On July 21, 2015, Joseph CHOW, 56, of Timmins was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence – Arson, and Arson – own property, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada. Chow was released on a Recognizance of Bail pending his next court date of October 13, 2015.

The investigation continued, with the second individual involved being arrested and charged on September 14, 2015. Adam BEAUDOIN, 31, of Timmins now faces charges of Arson – Disregard for human life, Possession of Incendiary Material, and Breach of Probation, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada. Beaudoin was held in custody pending his next court date of September 18, 2015.
