canadiantirejumpstart1A near $20,000 donation is headed for local kids.

Collin Clarke spent Tuesday rollerblading from Sudbury to Timmins, and with the support of Canadian Tire, all the money is going to the Jumpstart program.

He says he heard the amount of money raised, and besides the support, it was that which drove him to the finish line even more than the supplements and sugar that was physically powering him.

The journey took him about 17 hours to complete.

Clarke was looking at about $4,000 to raise, and local Canadian Tire owners Ray and Barb Pilon were matching it dollar for dollar.  From there, the head office in Toronto is also matching that total, which brought the total that’s indicated above, but the exact total isn’t known at this time.

Barb says Jumpstart supports over 70 sports, whether it be hockey or dance and everything in between.

Last year, about $50,000 was distributed from the program into Timmins, and with this, they expect the amount to be around $75,000 to help local kids.

So for Clarke, he says if he were to ever do this again, he’d want to make it even bigger but for now, a much-deserved rest is needed.
