TimminscircleTalks are starting next spring to keep the Wakeboard Park at Gillies Lake for the foreseeable future.

MRCA general manager, Dave Vallier says there’s an agreement in principal in place, it just needs approval from the MRCA board.

“There was a resolution passed which was an agreement in principal to extend the two-year pilot agreement.  The sole purpose for that was for government funding.  The owner needed more concrete from us and at the time we weren’t ready to update the agreement, we wanted to see the pilot agreement through before we proceeded.  This is more of a resolution in principal knowing full well the board needs to approve the extension.”

The two-year agreement is up this year but Vallier is recommending a new five-year agreement with talks starting in the spring.

The park has been operating at GIllies Lake and and normally the two towers pulling the riders around are taken down for winter, this year they’ll be staying up.
