A local farm-to-table restaurant is handing out carrots to students so they can take on their day with fresh eyes and full bellies.

Along with the Red Cross’s big crunch student nutrition program, Radical Gardens are delivering 1100 pounds of carrots to schools in Timmins and surrounding areas.

Owner Briana Humphrey hopes it will teach students with how food is grown and created.

She also says she’s excited “every child in Timmins will eat a carrot (she) grew.”

Every school in Timmins involved with the student nutrition program will receive a portion of the carrots based on their size.
