harper wikiGoing down the final stretch, John Curley is on the pavement to garner support.  He was in Elk Lake Thursday night or a community rally, thus, missing an election debate in Timmins.

All three of his opponents were critical of this absence, and efforts to get a hold of Curley were unsuccessful.

Instead, to provide you the Conservative perspective, our sister station in North Bay caught up with the leader of the Conservatives, Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

The economy is the focus for Harper as the election campaign winds down.

He says key planks include balancing the federal books, lowering taxes for small businesses and workers, creating jobs and providing new tax relief and benefits to families and seniors.   He also says they’re opening new markets that will benefit manufacturing and various northern sectors.

Among other things, he says they’re looking to create jobs, lower taxes for small businesses and workers and keep the federal budget balanced.  Harper also took aim at those looking to go into deficit.

The election goes on Monday.  Residents in the Eastern time zone have until 9:30pm to cast their ballot.
