OPPThe OPP were busy over the Halloween weekend, laying impaired charges following two separate incidents.

Members of the Matheson Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a single motor vehicle collision at 10:22 p.m. on October 29, 2015 on Highway 101 East in Munroe Township.

As a result of the investigation,  Gregory LYNCH, 46, of Manitouwadge, ON was charged with Impaired Driving as per section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Over 80 as per section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The driver was served with a 90 day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on December 15, 2015.

Members of the South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on Highway 101 at Highway 144 on October 29, 2015 conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.

At 8:46 p.m. a SUV approached the R.I.D.E. program. Further investigation of the driver resulted in charges.

Randy NAVEAU, 45, of Mattagami First Nation, Ontario was charged with Impaired Driving as per section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada, Personation with intent to avoid arrest as per section 403(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Obstruct Police Officer as per section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada. Furthermore the driver was charged with three counts of Driving while under suspension as per section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on December 15, 2015.
