Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updOn November 8, at approximately 8:55 a.m., officers responded to a call regarding an individual in distress.

Police located the individual in a residence; however a second individual on scene became uncooperative with police.

At one point during the incident, an attempt was made to disarm a responding officer by attempting to remove his Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW) from its holster. Officers quickly gained control of the individual.

As a result, Myles MCKAY-NAVEAU, 23, of Gogama, ON, was charged with Disarming a Peace Officer pursuant to Sec. 270.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released on a Promise to Appear in court with a court date of January 5, 2016.

Over the weekend, Timmins Police officers responded to more than 200 calls for service, including 38 police assistance calls, 31 traffic enforcements, 14 suspicious persons, eight thefts, seven motor vehicle collisions, seven alarm calls, six 911 hang-ups, and five domestic disputes, among other calls. Officers also volunteered their time to assist at the annual Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 7.
