Timmins_Police_Service_logo_updFive individuals now face charges as a result of impaired driving throughout the month of January.

On January 2, 2016, at approximately 5:50 a.m., police responded to a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Jubilee Ave. Police spoke to the driver of the vehicle, noting signs of impairment. Following an investigation, Brandt HUGHES, 25, of Timmins was charged with:

  • Impaired driving (Sec. 253(1)(a), Criminal Code of Canada)
  • Driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood (Sec. 253(1)(b), Criminal Code of Canada)

On January 16, 2016, at approximately 3:07 a.m., police officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Third Ave. and Elm St. Upon speaking to the driver of the vehicle, police noted signs of impairment. An investigation followed, which resulted in the following charges for Daniel DESJARDINS, 26, of Timmins:

  • Impaired driving (Sec. 253(1)(a), Criminal Code of Canada)
  • Driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood (Sec. 253(1)(b), Criminal Code of Canada)

On January 23, 2016, at approximately 4:00 a.m., police observed a vehicle exhibiting suspicious driving behaviour. A traffic stop was initiated by police in the area of Algonquin Blvd. E. Upon speaking to the driver of the vehicle, officers noted signs of impairment. Following an investigation, Clinton O’QUINN, 24, of Timmins was charged with:

  • Impaired driving (Sec. 253(1)(a), Criminal Code of Canada)
  • Driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood (Sec. 253(1)(b), Criminal Code of Canada)

Also on January 23, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police located a driver stationed inside a vehicle with the vehicle running, in the area of Algonquin Blvd. and Waterloo Rd. After approaching the vehicle and speaking to the driver, police noted signs of impairment. Following an investigation, Richard MILLER, 55, of Timmins was charged with:

  • Care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired (Sec. 253(1)(a), Criminal Code of Canada)
  • Care and control with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood (Sec. 253(1)(a), Criminal Code of Canada)

Finally, on January 29, 2016 at approximately 12:30 a.m., police noted a driver exhibiting erratic driving behaviour in the area of Algonquin Blvd. and Brunette St. A traffic stop was initiated by police and upon speaking to the driver of the vehicle, police noted signs of impairment. Following an investigation, Mapuruaiyani MBONIVA, 28, of Timmins was charged with:

  • Impaired driving (Sec. 253(1)(a), Criminal Code of Canada)
  • Driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood (Sec. 253(1)(b), Criminal Code of Canada)
