frostMinus 40 windchill aren’t going away any time soon.

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for much of Ontario, that isn’t expected to taper off until Sunday.

For the Our Place Warming Centre, it could be a busy night to keep people away from these nasty temperatures.

Julie Levesque with the Warming Centre says they’ll be open until 11:00pm, but if there is a need to keep it open overnight, they have the option to do so with a volunteer ready to help.

She adds more volunteers are always welcome, and are also asking for food and clothing donations from the public.

“Prepared foods like subs or sandwiches or pizza or something that’s already ready because we don’t have much time to get everything ready,” she said.

“We’ll make due but if we can get some donations, that would be great.”

Give Julie a call at 705-266-0079 if you’d like to help out.

Southern Ontario will see temperatures with the wind chill of about minus 30 C to minus 35 C overnight and tomorrow morning with only a marginal improvement in the afternoon.

The mercury is expected to show some improvement starting Sunday.
