NOJHL logoThe Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced their annual awards Thursday night, and there was plenty of hardware for the Timmins and district teams.

Of note, Timmins Rock forward Zach Kercz was named to the CCM 2nd All-Star Team for his efforts.

The 20-year-old from Aurora, Ont., made the most of his first year in the NOJHL finishing sixth in league scoring.  He notched 26 goals and finished second in league assists with 55.

Nine of his markers came on the power play and supplied a dozen man advantage assists.  He also had a 20-game point streak earlier this season.

The Cochrane Crunch’s Hunter Atchison took NOJHL MVP honours, and the “Carlo Cattarello Trophy”.  Atchison also took home the “Best Overall Team Player” award.

Cochrane head coach (and former Golden Bears and Jr. Eskis player) Ryan Leonard collected the Mirl “RED” McCarthy Memorial Award” for NOJHL Coach of the Year.

The district is also all over the NOJHL’s CCM All-Star teams.
