The roar of snowmobiles racing is taking over Timmins this weekend.

Snowcross 2016 is making it’s third stop in Timmins and event coordinator, Angela Vacchino says the warm weather is looking to make this the best event Timmins has ever hosted.

“The track is the best track we’ve had yet. We have a 20-foot base and with tons of moguls and jumps.  We’ve opened up the main area for spectators to surround the track.”

Vacchino is expecting a raucous crowd of 3,000 to 5,000 people but they won’t be waiting too long for races to start on Saturday.  Racing begins at 9 a.m. and runs more or less through until 4 p.m. Sunday.  Vacchino says two X-Games racers, Corey Watkinson and Iain Hayden, will be among the pro racers this year.

All the events are taking place at the Spruce St, South Snow Dump.
