That isn’t another hockey tournament in our arenas, it’s the 2016 “A” Ringette Provincials.

Timmins is hosting the event for the first time with over 50 teams and 800 players fighting for a place in the national tournament in April.

Over 175 games will be played from March 17th to 20th to crown champions in four divisions, including U14A, U16A, U19A and 18+.  Games will be played at arenas across the city, including the McIntyre, Archie Dillon Sportsplex, Mountjoy, Whitney and Carlo Cattarello (The Barn).  Games will also be played in Iroquois Falls at the Jus Jordan Arena.  Admission is FREE and the public is encouraged to come out and cheer on our three local Provincial A teams, all ranked in the top tier of their respective divisions.  For the U16A and U19A teams, winning will provide the opportunity to represent the province at the Eastern Canadian Championships in Prince Edward Island in April.

The official opening ceremonies will take place at the McIntyre Arena at 7:30 pm on Thursday, March 17th and will bring this year’s theme of “Light Up the North” to life. The ceremonies, as well as all games played at the McIntyre Arena will be live streamed all weekend.  Schedules and rosters for the hometown teams and all information related to this event can be found at www.timminsringette.com/tournaments/2016-a-provincials/. and a full weekend schedule is available on www.score2stats.com.
