Wynne assuring north - Hydro One sale will benefit all of us

Kathleen Wynne is in Timmins talking to municipal leaders, and clarified how the liberal government is working with the North to address issues that have been plaguing our area.

After probing from the media, she addressed the gas prices that seem to be jumping all over the board across the province. Wynne said regulating gas prices is not an option because when other jurisdictions have tried it, it doesn’t work out, as it is a market that needs to fluctuate.

Another pressing issue discussed in length was the improvement of infrastructure throughout the province. Wynne explained an intricate, multifaceted effort to better roads and accessibility to northern communities. This is thanks to the most aggressive and wide spread infrastructure plan the province has ever seen.  Funding will be provided through Cap and Trade and several tax credits for greener energy use for homes, business and vehicle owners.

Wynne also says the sale of Hydro One will be the biggest funder for infrastructure growth. With the revenue brought in from its privatization, the liberal government is equally distributing money to help the greater Toronto area and the rest of the province. From the sale, $15 billion will go towards infrastructure outside the GTA.

Wynne also spoke about renewing the softwood lumber agreement with the United States, providing $1 billion for healthcare – $350 million directly to hospitals.
