mayor steve blackThe funding model to deliver social services in Ontario likely won’t change, despite an online petition making the rounds.

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson says he understands where Timmins Mayor Steve Black is coming from, but would be surprised if the province granted Black’s request.

“The DSSAB was created by the province as a way of being able to regionalize social services,” he said.

He says the solution to this is to have Cochrane DSSAB members sit down and iron out a solution on their own.

Black has listed three options on the petition, one of which includes a request to the province to remove them from the Cochrane DSSAB entirely and fund social services for Timmins only.

As of 11:20am Tuesday morning, there are 371 names on the petition.  You can see that link HERE.
