Algonquin Blvd. has been pushed out of first place for CAA’s worst road in Ontario.

That’s not to say Timmins didn’t make the list as all. Algonquin Blvd. West made second place, Algonquin Blvd. East came in fourth and Riverside Dr. was tied with a Thunder Bay road for tenth place.

There are several factors that going into what makes a road the worst, such as potholes, congestion, pedestrian and cycling.

Christina Hlusko, president and CEO of CAA NEO drew a few conclusions from the top ten list.

“”The majority of the roads that made it to the Top 10 list are major roadways that connect smaller communities together and as such they are vital for the areas that they link.”

Though we didn’t top the list, we are the worst road in our region. This is also the first time in history a road in Toronto was not in the top five, and the first time Ottawa didn’t grace the list at all.

Altogether six northern community roads made the list, including Lorne St. in Sudbury. More than 2,500 different roads were nominated throughout the province.
