It’s shaping up to be a banner year for the Timmins Economic Development Corporation.

Behind the scenes, they’ve helped bring in over $5 million for local businesses and create nearly 20 new jobs. Chairman, Fred Gibbons says they set lofty goals but have already exceeded their goal of money leveraged from the government. He says the goal was for $2 million but have overflowed to over $4 million from the TEDC and over $900,000 from the Business Enterprise Centre.

CEO, Kristy Marinig says they’ve also been very busy in the 1st quarter in trying to make the city a viable place to film TV series or episodes.  She says their first reports are 99% done and they’ll be putting in more effort soon to get it off the ground.
