Saturday Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 90th birthday. Truth be told her actual birthday is in April. But, in a perfectly pragmatic British way, back in the 1800s it was decided the celebration would always take place in June. To ensure good weather! In Toronto the event was marked with a proper afternoon tea at the Royal York Hotel, featuring the Queen’s favourite tipple, a gin & Dubonnet, which she apparently enjoys everyday at 2pm. With pinkie extended, I’m sure. :) The Telegraph newspaper in the U.K. has video highlights of the celebration, and a great compilation photos: 90 pics that span Her Majesty’s 90 years .
