Two Timmins residents facing charges after separate vehicle thefts

A couple of vehicle theft incidents is bringing the “Lock it Or Lose It” program back into the spotlight.

Timmins Police is urging you to take the time to reduce the likelihood of being a victim of crime. It is recommended that expensive items not be stored in a vehicle but if it must be stored in a vehicle, to keep it out of sight of prying eyes and would-be thieves.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a number of calls for service in relation to a suspicious person who was rummaging through parked vehicles and is further alleged to have made his way into a Jade Avenue residence during the morning hours of June 8th, 2016.
Timmins Police officers responded to the scene and located a disoriented man who matched the description provided to the police by alert citizens.
He was found to be in possession of various stolen items allegedly taken from unlocked parked vehicles in the Borden and Carlin Street areas.
As a result of the investigation by the Timmins Police Service, James Daniel RONHOLM, 24, of Timmins, has been charged with:

• one count of Break and Enter With Intent contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
• one count of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
• one count of Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
• one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

RONHOLM was released on a Promise to Appear that requires that he attend court on July 5th to answer to the charges laid against him.

Meantime, police responded to a call for service in relation to a suspicious person who was rummaging through parked vehicles in the parking area of a local hotel during the morning hours of June 11th, 2016.
Timmins Police officers responded to the scene and located the suspect who matched the description provided to the police by the complainant.
He was found to be in possession of various stolen items allegedly taken from unlocked parked vehicles as well as a weapon.
As a result of the investigation by the Timmins Police Service, Dorian CHOKOMOOLIN, 19, of Timmins, has been charged with:

• one count of Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334 (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
• one count of Trespass by Night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code of Canada
• one count of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada
• one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
• one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled and Substances Act
• two counts of Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) the Criminal Code Of Canada

CHOKOMOOLIN was held in custody for a bail hearing. His next court appearance is slated for June 17th so that he can answer to the charges laid against him.
