The Timmins Chamber of Commerce is making 10 recommendations to improve quality and access to the Victor M. Power Airport.

Councillors spoke to a couple of the items.  Some things were met with admiration, others were met with a quick turn down service.

One of those things was a recommendation to “develop a pilot project to explore possible public transportation routes to and from the airport.”

Councillor Pat Bamford says they tried something similar years ago, a weekend service to Kamiskotia Ski Hill.  He says while the buses were full, the city had to discontinue the service due to its cost to the taxpayers.

Another item is to bring new vending machine options for travelers using the airport outside restaurant hours.

Councillor Noella Rinaldo welcomed it, saying some people can use a cup of coffee waiting for their flight at 4:30am.

Many other recommendations take a look at long-term parking in the winter time and the introduction of a flight school.

This report will be turned over to airport officials, who will look it over and include it in their 2017 budget presentation.
