Timmins Police Official-Badge

The Timmins Police Service has charged a 33-year old local woman, stemming from an incident which occurred during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 12th in Timmins.

While completing patrols of the downtown core of Timmins, an officer noted a Toyota passenger vehicle parked awkwardly at the side of the road of Cedar Street South in Timmins, with the engine running.

With the intention of checking on the well being of the driver, the Timmins Police officer noted that the driver had to be roused and then is alleged to have displayed obvious signs of impairment.

Based on observations made by the officer, the driver was arrested and taken into custody.

During the course of the investigation, a quantity of controlled substance was located within the vehicle along with a prohibited weapon.

As a result, the Timmins Police Service has charged Liane LAFRENIERE, 33, of Timmins, with:

  • One count of Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of a Prohibited Device contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • One count of Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The driver remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
