What makes one road a priority for construction over another?

That was the question asked at Timmins city council Monday night, after it was revealed Sandy Falls Road will undergo the third phase of re-construction later this summer.

City councillor Walter Wawrzaszek asked Director of Public Works Luc Duval about Sandy Falls.  Duval says it has to do with the high traffic volume.

Wawrzaszek proceeded to mention the state of Dixon Road in Porcupine, which is in need of repairs.

He, and fellow councillor Rick Dubeau, would like a bigger list developed for the 2017 budget year.  Dubeau also asked for timelines on road construction.

Mayor Steve Black says it could turn the conversation to whether or not the roads budget needs an increase.

The city awarded the construction to Interpaving Limited, at a cost of around $600,000 when you factor in taxes.  The upcoming work will involve Sandy Falls between Jaguar and Mahoney Road.
