The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into an incident where a 23 year old woman was slashed with a sharp edged weapon while outside a nightclub on Mountjoy Street South in Timmins during the early morning hours of Friday July 29th.

Timmins Police officers responded to the call for service and located the female victim who had suffered a cut to her upper chest which required that she be transported to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.

The victim was released from hospital after receiving medical attention.

The suspect was located and arrested at this residence by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result of their investigation, Kevin Henry VIENO, 29, of Timmins has been arrested and charged with:

  • One count of Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Carry a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • One count of Assault Cause Bodily Harm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • One count of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this afternoon at Provincial Court in Timmins.
