The city isn’t standing down against those who abuse tipping fee exemptions at the dump.

Now, residents bringing more than 100kg per month will have to pay $50 per tonne.

Previously, residents were able to bring up to 100kg as many times as possible but it’s said some small home-based businesses and small contractors would use their personal vehicles to avoid the commercial tipping fee.

City councillor Pat Bamford fought to increase the limit to 200kg a month, but was defeated.

The city estimates tipping fee revenues will increase by $10,000 a year with this new system.

No word on when these changes will be implemented.
