After a long-standing debate on the issue, residents living on Charland and Bertrand Roads in the city’s east end are celebrating a recent council decision to do winter maintenance this year.

The vote came Monday after a long debate, and it was a split vote.

Councillor Walter Wawrzaszek says the work is estimated at a $100,000 cost, but the cost could be higher if the city has to improve the road quality first.
