Timmins Police Official-Badge

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local driver stemming from an incident which occurred during the early evening hours of Monday, August 15th, in Timmins.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., the driver of a Toyota Corolla is alleged to have struck a stop sign while completing a turn off of Hwy 655 and onto Ross Avenue.

The driver is further alleged to have continued westbound onto Jubilee Avenue while driving the vehicle in an erratic fashion and narrowly avoiding a collision with oncoming traffic.

Officers with the Timmins Police located the subject vehicle a short while later at the driver’s residence.

While interviewing the driver about the collision, the Timmins Police officer noted that the driver was allegedly displaying obvious signs of impairment due to the consumption of alcohol.

Based on observations made by the officer, the driver was arrested and taken into custody for the purposes of completing Intoxilyzer tests.

As a result, the Timmins Police Service has charged a 56 year old Timmins man, with:

  • One count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Operate Motor Vehicle – over 80 Mgs of Alcohol in 100 Mls of Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from custody on a Promise to Appear requiring that he attend Provincial Court in Timmins on August 30th to answer to the charges laid against him.
