The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into an incident where a suspect is alleged to have bolted from a local taxi without paying the fare in South Porcupine.

The transportation fraud event occurred during the evening hours of Wednesday, August 17th

The Timmins Police Services responded to the incident and located the suspect a short while later.

While interviewing the suspect at the roadside, the suspect is alleged to have provided a false name to the police.

The young person, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested at the scene and charged with:

  • One count of Transportation Fraud contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • One count of Identity Fraud contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Conditional Sentence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
