Timmins Police made a couple arrests for impaired driving, and also nabbed someone for theft in the north end of town.

 

IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES
While completing patrols of the north end of the city, a Timmins Police officer located a suspected impaired driver on Mountjoy Street North at approximately 2:54 a.m. Sunday morning.

Based on the observations made by the officer, the driver was arrested and taken into custody for the purposes of completing Intoxilyzer breath test procedures.

As a result, a 25 year old female resident of Verner, Ontario has been charged with:

  • One count of Impaired Operation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Operating a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in 100 Mls of Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person was released from police custody on a Promise To Appear requiring that she attend Provincial Court in Timmins on October 4th to answer to the charges laid against her.

Additionally, the Timmins Police were made aware of a possible impaired driver in a parking lot off of Algonquin Blvd by an alert citizen at approximately 11:20 p.m. Sunday morning.

The suspect was located a short while later by a Timmins Police officer.

Based on observations made by the officer, the driver was arrested and taken into custody for the purposes of completing Intoxilyzer breath test procedures.

As a result, a 57 year old male resident of Calstock, Ontario has been charged with:

  • One count of Impaired Operation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Operating a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Mgs of Alcohol in 100 Mls of Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused person was released from police custody on a Promise To Appear requiring that he attend Provincial Court in Timmins on October 4th to answer to the charges laid against him.

 

THEFT CHARGES
The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into an incident where items were stolen from a vehicle on August 30th on Spruce Street North.

The victim reported that a number of personal items, cash, and a wallet had been taken from a parked vehicle.

The investigation by the Timmins Police Service has resulted in the suspect being identified, located and arrested.

Dorian CHOKOMOLIN, 19, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • One count of Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Three counts of Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a Bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.

The Timmins Police Service reminds all residents that an unlocked vehicle acts as an open invitation for thieves.

Additionally, the Timmins Police Service strongly recommends not storing valuable items in a vehicle, even for brief periods of time, and never overnight. Crime prevention is achieved when residents take appropriate steps to reduce the likelihood of being victimized.
