A subdivision on Wallingford Road is standing on uneven ground, with a risk property could fall into the Mattagami River.

Councillor Andre Grzela says a culvert between 220 and 230 Wallingford Road isn’t strong enough, and the ground is shaking at an increasing rate.

In a letter attached to the council package Monday night, Grzela states he understands residents have responsibilities once they own land, but “processes were not in place to insure proper drainage.”

He adds that the issues causing the damage are numerous, but wants to take action instead of placing blame as it isn’t a new issue.

The cost to repair the culvert is unknown, but a report is due back on this shortly.
