Country superstar Keith Urban isn’t confirmed for a concert in Timmins next year.

Information leaked out into the public Wednesday evening that Urban would headline the concert on Canada Day at Hollinger Park, as part of an eight day music and fireworks festival but Mayor Steve Black says nothing is set in stone.

“I’ve had discussions regarding multiple headliners,” Black said Wednesday evening via text, “None are at the point where we have a confirmed headliner.”

Black told local media Monday night that an announcement was supposed to be made next week, once all the negotiations were finalized.

He says discussions had to wait until city council formally approved the spending of over $3.5 million dollars to put on a music festival and International Fireworks Competition.

Council approved the spending by a vote of 7-2, with Councillors Joe Campbell and Rick Dubeau voting against it.
