While completing patrols of the downtown core area during the early morning hours of October 7th, a Timmins Police officer had occasion to observe a 2014 Nissan Titan pickup truck allegedly being driven in an erratic fashion.

While attempting to stop the vehicle, the officer followed the vehicle for a considerable distance until it was eventually stopped in a business parking lot on Algonquin Blvd East in Timmins.

The driver was interviewed by the Timmins Police officer. The officer noted alleged signs of significant impairment.

As well, routine police checks revealed that the driver license is allegedly under suspension.

The driver was arrested at the scene and taken into custody to complete breath testing procedures.

As result of the investigation into this matter, a 44 year old Timmins man has been charged with:

  • One count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Fail/Refuse to Provide Breath Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Drive While Disqualified contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Drive Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • One count of Fail to Stop for Police contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • One count of Disobey Stop Sign contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • One count of Fail to Wear Seat Belt contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • One count of Unnecessary Noise contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • One count of Use Improper Mudguards contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear requiring that he attend Provincial Court in Timmins on December 6th to answer to the charges laid against him.
