The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a theft occurrence at a local confectionary store in Timmins.

Police were called to the scene yesterday (18 Oct) afternoon where the suspect was located on scene and taken into police custody.

The suspect is alleged to have stolen pre-packaged brownies and attempted to flee the scene.

Desmond SPENCE, 23, of Timmins, was arrested and has been charged with:

  • One count of Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Possession of Goods Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

As the accused is awaiting trial on other unrelated charges, he was held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.

In a separate incident, the Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a harassment occurrence at a residence in South Porcupine.

Police were called to the scene yesterday (18 Oct) evening where the suspect is alleged to have repeatedly attended at a residence of a former acquaintance in contravention of a term of his probation.

The suspect was located this morning and taken into police custody.

Frank BINT, 66, of South Porcupine, was arrested and has been charged with:

  • One count of Trespass by Night contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
