It’s beginning to look a lot like…frigid temperatures and snow fall.

(…You thought I was going to say Christmas didn’t you?)

Well, at this time of year, it usually means the return of the Santa Claus Parade.  Officials say the parade will go this Saturday at 6:30pm in the downtown core.

As a rule, there will be no on-street parking after 4pm along the parade route.

Get a spot early, the Downtown BIA says they expect over 10,000 people to attend.

The route is the same as previous years:

  • The Marshalling area is on Spruce South beside the Timmins Police building, and on Second Avenue east of Spruce.
  • Northbound on Spruce and turn left on Algonquin.
  • Turn left on Pine Street.
  • Turn right on Third Avenue.
  • All the way down to Mountjoy, and turning right.

The parade ends near the La Ronde building.

A couple of notes on the parade.  Before it starts, donations are being accepted for the South Porcupine Food Bank.  Bella’s Boutique is also accepting any gently used or new coats, hats and mitts for adults and children.

Canada Post will collect letters to Santa too.
