Residents in the Gogama region will welcome a special guest this Friday.

World-renowned environmentalist Dr. David Suzuki will be paying a visit to talk with residents and see last year’s train derailment site.

Fire Chief Mike Benson says it’s a huge honour, adding he’s excited to get his personal opinion on the matter.

Residents will be able to voice their concerns on CN Rail’s clean up efforts to Suzuki at a public meeting.

Benson ran into Suzuki last month at Queen’s Park after presenting a petition to gain government support to force CN Rail to continue the clean up process.

Earlier this month, CN did in fact continue the process as a result of public pressure.

Any one wanting to hear from or talk with Suzuki is urged to go to the Gogama Community Centre Friday at 4pm for the public meeting.
