The Board of Trustees of District School Board Ontario North East have voted to accept an offer to purchase Frank P. Krznaric Whitney Public School in Porcupine by Rubino Real Estate Holdings Inc.

The school was closed on June 30th, 2014 and students were consolidated into Golden Avenue Public School effective September 1st, 2014.

Board Chair Doug Shearer says they did have to maintain the building since the closure, so the sale gives them additional dollars for school maintenance and repairs, though some of the money goes to the Ministry.

The Earl Street building was constructed in 1972 and had the capacity to hold 280 students.

The Board still has Foleyet Public School on the market for sale.
