Nathan Koostachin will continue his stay in police custody after the 19-year old was denied bail Friday in a Timmins courtroom.

Koostachin is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year old Austin Theriault at Bozzer Park this past summer.

According to Koostachin’s lawyer Ben Dawkins, there was a proposal to release him into the custody of his mother and grandparents.  With that, the plan was to relocate from Timmins to Peawanuck.

Koostachin would return to Timmins for future court dates.

However, Judge Robin Tremblay scrapped those plans after raising concerns.

Koostachin will be back in court January 30th.
