Sears Canada has decided not to renew their lease with the Timmins Square.

And according to the Square’s Property Manager Brenda McLeish, the popular Timmins shopping centre will be without their biggest store around “the end of July.”

Sears has been in the mall for a number of years and has occupied their current space after Walmart left for their own stand-alone store in 2005.

Previously, Sears was located in the portion of the mall that Sportchek and Winners currently occupies.

In a statement on the Timmins Square Facebook page, McLeish said the following:

“RioCan was recently notified that Sears has decided not to renew its lease at Timmins Square. We value our relationship with Sears Canada and are appreciative of the contributions the company has made to the Shopping Centre and the local community over the past years. While we are disappointed to see Sears go, RioCan is currently exploring opportunities to fill the space, based on the needs of the local community.”

Sears Canada has yet to answer our inquiry for a comment and additional details.
