Following various discussions and the receipt of a petition, Council voted unanimously on February 8 to install an all-way stop at the corner of Golden Avenue and Legion Drive in South Porcupine.

The Traffic Department presented a report on February 6, supporting Council’s decision to implement an all-way stop at this location. This long-term solution will enhance pedestrian safety at this location.

With an upcoming hockey tournament taking place February 9-12, involving 50 teams, safety is an obvious priority and the new stop signs were installed today by the Traffic Department.

The new stop signs will have flashing red lights as well as advanced warning signs of the upcoming stop.

Other long-term options to increase safety in this area, such as fencing and alternate routes, continue to be discussed around the Council table.
