The city is looking to lay some groundwork for the Stars and Thunder festival.

As part of the festival’s requirements, a gravel base is needed on the south side for the staging area, along with a pathway around the perimeter of the stage to allow for setup, first responders and more.

This will also help mitigate some of the soil remediation efforts in relation to contamination issues from previous mine workings.

The money is coming out of the parks budget, but the city is confirming an application is being made for NOHFC funding.

Parker Construction was the winning bid at $99,074.55 +HST.
