Gas prices continue to be a hot topic in Ontario, as the price has gone up again.

This, even though the price of oil has remained the same.

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson says the latest jump further solidifies his claim that the province should step in and regulate prices so it’s fair to everyone.

“Clearly, it’s a question of gas companies are gouging us at the pump,” he said, “They’re taking advantage of the situation and it’s up to the province to regulate these people if they’re not able to get themselves all squared away as far as being fair with the consumer.”

Bisson says both the provincial and federal Liberals could step in, but they’re “more interested in themselves than they are about protecting the consumer.”

On average, the price went up about six cents a litre Tuesday afternoon.  Overall, the price is 15 cents more than it was last week.

As of Wednesday morning, Timmins’ gas prices sit at around $1.28 a litre.
